Medication Management at Our Practice

Medication management pairs prescribing with ongoing review, so that treatment is adjusted to how you are actually responding rather than set once and left alone. It covers the initial evaluation, the decision about whether medication is appropriate, selection and titration, monitoring for benefit and side effects, and coordination with any therapy or assessment you are also receiving.

At this practice, medication management is provided by Anais Schultz, MSN, a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Her nursing career began in 2017 across mental health, internal medicine, and intensive care, and she went on to earn her Master's degree from Wilkes University in Pennsylvania.

Because the practice also provides neuropsychological and ADHD evaluation, assessment findings and prescribing decisions can inform one another. If you have already completed an evaluation here, those results are available to support medication decision-making.

Medication Management May Be Appropriate If

  • You have an ADHD diagnosis and want to discuss whether medication is appropriate
  • You are currently on a medication that is not working as well as it should
  • You are experiencing side effects that need to be reviewed
  • You want ongoing monitoring rather than a one-time prescription

  • You would prefer to discuss your care in Spanish

What to Expect

  • Coordination with therapy and with neuropsychological or ADHD evaluation
  • Care available in English and Spanish
  • Treatment for adults, young adults and adolescents

How We Approach Medication

Evaluation First

We start by understanding your history, current symptoms, previous treatment and what has and has not worked, so that any prescribing decision is grounded in the full picture rather than a symptom list.

Shared Decision Making

Options, expected benefits, and possible side effects are discussed openly so that you can make an informed choice. Medication is one option among several, not an automatic outcome of an appointment.

Ongoing Review

Follow-up appointments track how you are responding, address side effects, and adjust the plan over time. Holistic factors such as sleep, routine and stress are considered alongside prescribing.

Benefits

Assessment-Informed Prescribing

Where a neuropsychological or ADHD evaluation has been completed at this practice, those objective findings are available to inform medication decisions.

Continuity of Care

Therapy, assessment and medication management can be coordinated within one practice rather than split across providers who do not communicate.

Care in Spanish

Anais is fluent in English and Spanish, so appointments can be conducted in the language in which you can describe your experience most precisely.

Ongoing Monitoring

Follow-up is built into the model, so that dose, tolerability and effectiveness are reviewed rather than assumed.

Holistic Perspective

Sleep, routine, stress and daily functioning are considered alongside medication, consistent with an evidence-based and holistic approach to care.

A Calm, Trusting Setting

Appointments are structured so that you feel safe to raise concerns, needs and fears, including the ones that are difficult to say out loud.

Insurance Accepted for Medication Management

Medication management is credentialed with a specific set of plans, which is narrower than the list accepted for therapy and evaluation:

Cigna, Aetna, Optum (United Healthcare), VA Medicaid, Sentara Health Plans, Cigna HealthSprings, VA CCN, and Medicare.

If your plan is not listed, contact the office before scheduling and we will confirm your options.
